 Path Track 2005 

The 45th Conference of the FSASP was held at St George Hotel, Rietvleidam, Gauteng on 3-5 July 2005.  Prof Stewart has been in office for the past 2 years as president and has made valuable contributions in the field of Chemical Pathology concerning Quality assurance.  Dr Steenkamp was elected as the new president of the SAACB.
Dr Steenkamp is one of a few scientists in South Africa working on the relevant topic of traditional herbal remedies.  She is currently working as Senior Scientist and Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Pretoria, where she is active in self-initiated projects in the field.  She is author of a number of peer reviewed scientific publications in the field of Clinical Biochemistry and has received international recognition as scientist.

Alan Shenkin graduated and specialised in Chemical Pathology in Glasgow UK, where he worked under Sir David Cuthbertson and also trained at the Nutrition Unit at Karolinska Institute with the nutritional pioneer Arvid Wretlin He is European Editor of the journal Nutrition' and Chairman of the Intercollegiate Group on Nutrition , developing nutrition courses for the UK Royal Colleges. His research is directed at micronutrient requirements in health and disease, the metabolic and biochemical response to serious illness.
